The final hand off of the day was at the park and that was something that made Phoenix a little uneasy. There were families and kids and even the rare cop patrolling the area. It went off without a hitch though and Nix knew his over analytical mind was just buzzing with paranoia. It always was when he was in shadier parts of town for deals. He didn't want anything to happen that would land him in jail or worse. But he could relax now, it went off perfectly and he had the day to enjoy. The park was pretty quiet for it being such a nice day and it made it a lot more tempting to just sit and hang out. He walked out of the shadows where the trade off had gone down and into the warm sunshine in the general view of the park. Choosing a bench, he sat down and lounged back to soak up some of the rays of sun already baking his black clothes.
Out of the jobs he had, he liked tattooing a lot better. It wasn't as sketchy and it was something he got lost in when he did it. He really did like being a dealer though. He just wished he was a little higher up on the chain of command and didn't have to worry about the things he did. He felt like he had to be there for Rian with Ellie not living at the apartment anymore and that meant he had to be extra careful. While she had always been wary of him, he had liked her and missed her being around. He wasn't even sure of the last time he had really seen her other than just pass when she was at the apartment. It seemed like he was always leaving right when she was walking in the door or the other way around. She had been like a little sister to him too and he wondered how she was doing out on her own in the world.

fear might be the death of me, fear leads to anxiety, don't know what's inside of me.

she couldn't seem to get any sleep for the past few days, and had been spending her time by herself. the pink haired girl knew that a lasting relationship needed to spend some time apart. a bandage wrapped around her arm from an accident she had when she was at work, and she wasn't sure how she was going to spend the rest of her day. she had three options that were more obvious than the others, but she almost felt like she needed to do something else than bother them. she slipped her straw between her lips and took a small sip, and started replying to messages on her phone. she forgot her ear plugs, so she wouldn't be able to drown out the idiotic drunks that tended to walk to the streets that made sexual slurs. she ran a hand through her soft pink hair, while keeping her mind away from the fog that sometimes creep-ed up on her.
she ran a hand through her hair, while finding herself walking in the park and started to slowly ease into a state of comfort. she enjoyed coming here as a kid, and tended to sneak out after play time with her father and cry under an old oak tree. she mentally shook her thoughts from her head, and was wondering how much longer was she going to have to spend her time keeping her relationship with brett a secret. it was difficult keeping it away from her siblings, but she understood that they had to wait until she was eighteen to start spreading the word around that they were an item now. she noticed a familiar face and smiled, she skipped the rest of the way and lightly tapped his shoulder, "ello phoenix." she said, in a cheery voice.
"how have you been, old sport?" she asked, with a light smirk. she knew something was going on between him and rian, but she never asked about it. she had a big fear about sexual relations and it was giving her boyfriend fits and blue balls.

Life has a weird way of making things work. Random things crossing your path when you were thinking about them or when you weren't. Sometimes it wasn't the things you wanted and sometimes you were left hoping they worked out. If a thought could summon people as easy as it had brought the girl with hair the color of bubblegum then Phoenix wouldn't still have the heavy guilt nagging on him for it's 10th year now. That was the thing that decided his opinion on fate. He could excuse the shit that happened when he was a kid and chalk it up to what lead him to meet Rian but his brother being ripped away for so long wasn't good for anyone. It got him out of the situation he didn't deserve but siblings should never be apart. He saw it with Rian and Ellie, their loyalty and dedication that would probably follow them to the grave. All the Todd's had it. He shook his head and ran his hand through his hair. Was he a bad brother for not finding him already?
His train of thought derailed when someone skipped up to him. He smiled and looked up at her. "Hey. I was just thinking about you, Pinkie." He shrugged and moved over so she could sit. "I've been pretty good. How about you? I never see you anymore." He put on a playful pout. In addition to never seeing the girl that used to stay locked in her room in the apartment before, he hadn't seen his other best friend in a while. Kids were growing up and friends were growing apart? It wasn't something he liked but he knew it was part of life.
"What have you been up to?" The girl had to have some interesting news of her new life on her own and getting his head out of depressing thoughts was a lot better than just letting them bother him and bring him down. It was kind of a reunion here, he couldn't be in a bad mood!
